August SUV Drive: Planes, Trains, and Automobiles: Canceled

This event is canceled. 

Spend a day on the Planes, Trains, and Automobiles SUV Drive organized by Jeff  Gasparitsch. The route is about 150 miles including some out-of-the-way, back-country experiences. This drive is open for registration.  It will close on August 18 at 5:00pm.

We will meet in Sandy. In your RSVP, please indicate if you plan to join the breakfast before the drive. The route is exploring the area and towns south and east of Mt Hood. The day will conclude with a mid-afternoon guided tour of the Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum (WAAAM) located in Hood River – the cost for the museum is $15.50 (w/cc fee) per person. 

Food will be available for pre-order from the Twin Peaks Drive-In which is adjacent to the museum, and consumed picnic fashion prior to our museum tour. Soda and water bottles will be brought along but feel free to bring your favorite as well. The museum kindly asks that we do not consume alcoholic beverages on their premises for insurance liability reasons.

These are the simplified food menu options (including cc fees), please order with your RSVP:

• Twin-n-out Double Cheeseburger $9.25
• Bacon burger $9.00, $9.75 w/cheese
• ¼ lb hamburger $6.50, $7.00 w/cheese
• Cod Fish Sandwich $9.75
• Curly fries $3.50

Note: Burgers can be made into vegan Beyond Burger patties for $3.50 upcharge.

General notes: 

• 13 cars
• Gather at 8:30am (7:30am for breakfast) and leave by 9:00am
• Please place your order for the museum and/or food when you register
• Please volunteer to sweep when you register if you are willing to do that role

General Information

• The “Release and Waiver of Liability” will be available to sign at the start of the drive.  
• Registration is by car. Each driver please register their car. If you have a navigator, please register that person at the same time. If you don’t have a navigator, just mark the navigator questions as NA. Please see registration at the bottom of this page.
• Attendance is limited to 1 group with 13 cars.
• Please note: The start location and a printable PDF file of Printed Route Directions and Scenic Navigation App Access will be provided 2 days prior to the event to all registrants. Please do not share this information with anyone else. Please check your SPAM folder if you do not get an email with this information by 5:00pm the day before the event.
