July Midweek Drive: A Drivers Special – Full, Waitlist Open

July’s midweek drive is designed for those who like to be up early to hit the road and have a driving experience.  Beginning in Sandy, Oregon, we will traverse over Government Camp and ultimately head east to Maupin.  From Maupin we will climb back up to the high desert enjoying sweeping Mountain View’s, smooth roads, long quiet sections, and free ranging highways. Our second stop will be in Grass Valley prior to heading back west along the Shears Bridge/Tygh Valley Highway and continuing to The Dallas where we will lunch along the river at the Bargeway Pub.

This nearly 200-mile drive (excluding returning from The Dallas and traveling to the start in Sandy) includes plenty of opportunities for changing landscapes and long sections of quiet roads.  Birds, animals, and mountains are plenty.  A total of about 12,000 feet of combined elevation changes, plenty of sweeping turns, long straightaways, and some excellent turns including a number of hairpins.  Because of the distance, this is designed as a limited group size drive. It is designed for experienced driver/navigator teams.

We will meet at 8:00am with the participants meeting at 8:15 and leaving around 8:30. Due to the nature of this drive, we will have 2 groups of 6 cars each. We are in need of 2 sweeps and 1 lead.  Please volunteer for these roles when you register.

Registration is full.  There is a waitlist to handle any cancellations.

General information about this event:

• The “Release and Waiver of Liability” will be available to sign at the start of the drive.
• Registration is by car. Each driver must register their car. If you have a navigator, you will register that person at the same time. If you don’t have a navigator, just mark the navigator question as N/A.
• The start location and a printable PDF file of Printed Route Directions and Scenic Navigation App Access will be provided a day before the event to all registrants. Please check your Spam folder if you do not see an email with the directions within 24 hours of the event.
• Since this is a registration only event, please do not share this information with anyone else.
