Please join the June SUV Drive on Saturday, June 24. Organized by Heinz Holzapfel, the drive starts in Hubbard and finishes at the Wooden Nickle Pub and Eatery, 108 N. Center St. Sublimity. Zero Gravel, your SUV will stay clean!
We will start at a little known park in Hubbard. From there we will wander south past many greenhouses, nurseries, farms, cattle ranches, hop fields, orchards and christmas tree farms to another little known park called Turner City Park.
After this rest stop we will proceed to our next stop- forty five minutes away, going south through the back roads of south Salem past more Christmas trees, wineries and country estates to our primary destination which is the fairly new Ankeny Hill Nature Center. This stop has excellent restrooms with sinks and running water. I expect that we might spend some extra time at this location. Two of the trails close to the nature center could give us a little exercise. The short one to the Oak Overlook is 750 feet and the longer one past Perigrine Marsh is three fourths of a mile. We should be able to walk around it in 15 minutes if anyone is so inclined.
After this stop we will wind our way north and take a turn through Turner before meandering to the sublime town of Sublimity where we will stop at the Wooden Nickel Pub and Eatery for lunch.
We meet at 9:00am in Hubbard. Participant’s Meeting is at 9:15am with wheels rolling at 9:30. Registration closes on Friday, June 23 at 12 noon.
