November SUV Drive

This SUV drive is a leisurely late fall drive from Scappoose on the Columbia River to Astoria for Lunch. All roads are paved. We pass two coastal mountain ranges on curvy roads. The total driving distance is 126 miles, drive time is about 3 hours.

We start in Scappoose and follow the Scappoose -Vernonia Highway to cross the mountains over to Vernonia for a first rest stop at the City Lake Park. From there we follow Hwy 47 and then take Apiary Road over the mountains to Clatskanie for a second rest stop. The final leg leads from Clatskanie to Mist, through the ghost town of Jewell to the Youngs River. We follow the river on the south side to Astoria and end our ride at the Bridgewater Bistro for Lunch.

Registration is open for 15 cars.  Please arrive by 9:00am with a participant’s meeting at 9:15 and leave by 9:30.

Registration information:

• The “Release and Waiver of Liability” will be available to sign at the start of the drive.
• Registration is by car. Each driver please register their car. If you have a navigator, please register that person at the same time. If you don’t have a navigator, just mark the navigator questions as NA. Please see registration at the bottom of this page.
• Attendance is limited to 15 cars.
• The start location and a printable PDF file of Printed Route Directions and Scenic Navigation App Access will be provided a day before the event to all registrants. Please do not share this information with anyone else. Please check your SPAM folder if you do not get an email with this information by 5:00pm the day before the event.
